Electrician - not as easy to recover equipment from site as you may think. Depending on the terms of the contract that Hastie entered into, it may be that the equipment has to remain on site until the job is complete whether that be by Hastie or by others. In the meantime its not the builders that you have to worry about cracking open the spray cans, its the subbies that worked for Hastie trying to recoup their losses who have been employed by the builder direct, to finish the job.
There has also been the case that some sites have demanded proof of ownership before letting go of the equipment. A sprayed name on a ladder or site box isnt proof of ownership. Proof of ownership is not an easy thing to do when records are not available or the equipment, although in perfectly good condition, is a few years old and the records have long gone.
I know of one regional office, not secured by the liquidator on the day of the collapse, where vehicles were stolen, office cleaned out, fax photocopier computers etc including Im told, the kettle in the kitchen. Not done by staff or subbies who didnt get paid or by disgruntled clients but by people who just took the opportunity because they could.
    Pretty sad world.
