Agree with your premise
It took a long time for it to sink in that the majority of companies who commence initial production run in to many issues around commissioning, grades, etc which impacts the SP ... I have held such companies and seen paper profits reduce or dwindle down which then you juggle around on leaving with profit or holding to get some back
Best time to make decent money is in two phases IMO:
1 - Initial discovery to initial/updated MRE's
2 - If the scoping/PFS/DFS studies are decent, the period following the studies to near first production
