Oh, der. Yes, I meant an aluminium smelter, not another alumina refinery.

WA has many of the preconditions for a successful smelter: quality jurisdiction, abundant land, deep engineering base, skilled (expensive) labour, alumina and most importantly the capacity to create at scale a renewable energy supply at reasonable cost. Y'all may be rolling around on the floor laughing at the idea of inexpensive juice in WA, but I think it possible.

Adding both significant demand and new supply to the WA grid would be a welcome boost to economic activity, as would the value add to currently exported alumina.
