That old argument about short selling promoting liquidity is just so much hot air...you can't sum up the so-called advantages and disadvantages in a silly one line comment. But it so often happens.
Fact is that short sellers contribute nothing to the economic prosperity of the nation because they are there for trade only...adding to volatility etc. at the true investors' expense.
If we are going to have short selling, then let it be totally transparent...which it is patently not right now.
