It happens all the time. Around reporting season all the fund managers and analysts provide a list of ASX CEOs and Chairs they would like to meet for 1:1s. Throughout the year 1:1s are arranged as well.
Even in micro caps I have had management reach out to talk.
It is like anything in business - you need to build a relationship first. Paul / Keith / Dan / Peto by showing up at the AGM have obviously done so.
