I was just musing about what might logically happen if the business kept delivering against all metrics except market cap/share price. Eventually some lot will say this is a steal so let’s steal it. An unsolicited and unwelcome offer comes in, our management don’t recommended it, saying it undervalues the company…………. So what? us shareholders look at the offer and say that’ll do me I’ll accept it.
suddenly a big chunk of shares moves to new owners. They might not have control but they’ve got influence,
surely our management would not feel safe knowing that a large shareholder is now on board and very likely to be casting a much less indulgent eye on their performance in terms of shareholder return/value
