Geez you guys jump at shadows really easily.

HBP drilling is necessary to be able to book the reserves within a DSU and one initial well .Even though it won't drain all the reserves in the DSU , the HBP well is enough to book ALL those reserves. Those reserves are ' held' by the equity holders in the DSU as long as there is a producing well in that DSU , even if it is not the initial HBP well.

What I am talking about to ' protect' the reserves is totally different.

Adjacent wells in other DSU's can affect your DSU to a certain extent depending on the location of the well and size of the frack. Essentially they can cause a pressure " sump' which can draw surrounding hydrocarbons towards the well. It may be that the initial HBP well drilled by BRK was located in the best position to prove the reserve, but not to counter the potential affect of a 3rd party well.

So any development well drilling by BRK, or the eventual PUD holder will take 3rd part wells into consideration for timing and location of those development wells. The BRK well will also have a sump effect, which will counter that of the adjacent 3rd party well.

Hope that explanation passes the "pub test".

    Cheers

    Dan
