I made an error earlier on here. I said the Germans would not let you register an ICE car from 2025 onwards.
In fact, they will not allow you to register a *new* ICE car from 2025 onwards. Obviously this is an excellent policy, and will spell the end of almost all ICE vehicles in Germany within a couple of decades.
Ultimately if governments are serious about climate change they will set more ambitious targets. Over the next five to ten years you will see policies become *more* ambitious rather than less, as popular pressure grows.
Also, in terms of unexpected problems... If Chinese authorities were aware of some miraculous new technology that would usurp the lithium-ion battery, they wouldn't be so ruthlessly stockpiling and cornering the processing market.
China plays the long game, and everything they've done suggests they believe lithium will be a strategic mineral for years to come.
