Good question as all I can say is it's either metal or plastic. Knee arthroplasty and the doctor said everything depends on what he discovers. I just had X-ray and MRI done and go back to see doctor next week. Also had arthroscopic surgery 9 yrs ago. I've torn two ACL's and got arthritis that is to say a lot of wear and tear. I watched a couple videos and it's interesting. Doctors just go to work cutting away stuff and stuffing new material back in place. I just wonder how they get all the air out after the incision is sewn closed. It's a half day in the hospital and a month or two for "full" recovery meaning full could mean anything. My doctor is running a knee factory. Loads of people in and out. The big dig is now-a-days it's less painful than half a dozen years ago if you can believe that.
