trentwilliam said, "Do you think all this illogical ... is... the start of the next GFC maybe?"

Short answer, ...NO.   The GFC was an entirely different beast, caused by THE CRIMINALLY FRAUDULENT BEHAVIOR of the Wall St Banks "Masters of the Universe" CEOs and their employees who INTENTIONALLY rolled COMPLETELY WORTHLESS Sub-Prime-Mortgages into AAA rated Securities (as conveniently rated FOR THEM by their CRIMINALLY COMPLICIT 'Securities Ratings Agencies' eg, Moodys, Standard & Poors, etc) and then on-sold them (off their own Bank-books) for an absolute fortune, to the rest of the entire world's most gullible investing MUGS who were then all left holding their completely worthless and severely stinking Sub-Prime sheet-sandwiches, once the music stopped.

What we're seeing right now on global markets, and the US in particular, is simply a "healthy" washout of all of the greedy fools who have borrowed lots of "cheap-money" while the US interest rates were low and who are now panicking and hitting their exit buttons from all of their stock market investments that they had previously bought with all of that cheap money because they've suddenly all realized that the US Fed is, actually serious, about raising US interest rates, and, at a lot faster rate, than all of these "investment-genius-boofheads" had ever anticipated.

In other words, it's simply "a completely healthy price correction" to otherwise overinflated US stock prices, for which, all of the rest of us should indeed be truly thankful, for all of the bargain buying opportunities that it will now present us with, over the next couple/few months.

See, every cloud does indeed hold a Silver-Lining, for those of us with patience, and non-margin-loan / debt-funded financing, of our own investments.
