So... had to evacuate Mt Beauty with my family and pets because of the fires. Ended up with a couple of very nice people that restored my faith in humanity. Over dinner he told me his son writes trading bots for a major stockbroker and has been actively shorting the A$ and GXY (He won the job basically by winning a competition to write a better bot and then his bot beat their best one 3 months in a row that got him a permanent position).
Needless to say the conversation changed when I told him I had a significant long position in GXY and shorting had decimated my investment. Oddly, he was a financial adviser that said GXY should be great long term but short to medium in this market will be unpredictable and play into the hand of day traders, bots and shorters.
