De-carbonisation is not going to drive electrification in transport, economics will drive it. Autonomous EV's and renewable energy have a clear and predictable adoption/cost curve. Post 2025, we will be rejecting private car ownership and most of the Kms travelled will be done via autonomous fleets. The second highest household expense (transport) will be cut in half. We will get a cleaner environment and we will get money back (ripped off from the transport disruption, Tony Seba)
2060 is actually a conservative target, the transport and energy sectors will be well on the way to zero carbon by 2030. We are at the very beginning of the S-curve, to flatten out around 2030 when most people will have subscriptions to autonomous vehicle providers.
