Macquarie doesn't do prime brokerage, but they do participate in stock loan/borrow. Macquarie is also a broker/dealer, which means they mainly act on client instructions. Many fund managers use Macquarie for their trading, so my best guess is that the reason Macquarie was there is because they have some institutional clients wanting to trade.
