It looks as though hydrogen vehicles were just a hedge against BEVs. From a background studying materials engineering, I can say that electric vehicles far surpass the capabilities of a hydrogen vehicle. And with the next generation of lithium battery, to say that they could compete is a joke. The only thing I can see is sodium ion batteries maybe as weight is not a factor for stationary storage. Of course this would only be a thing for large scale grid storage, though even those will struggle as the cost comes down for lithium batteries thanks to the amount of research into them.
