Very strange. Nearly all logic has gone out the window.
Mcbank, MS, and Ubs are all looking to expand in China.
Of the six Australian lithium miners, three send their product to one chinese buyer (ganfeng). The three banks above have support for the three miners.
The one Australian partnership operation (Tianqi/Alb) not listed send their spod to Tianqi for processing. Their greenbushes plant can't make LCE for a profit at current prices.
Galaxy, which has its own chain of customers and making profit, is the one singled out. Is Galaxy customers a threat to ganfeng and tianqi market share? After all they are chinese and are as competitive. Why would one of galaxy customer spend $115m to upgrade their spod processing plant for more production? Is it because they plan to consume more spod from suppliers like Gslaxy? Maybe its for fun.
A lithium so call expert was all for gxy before Xmas, turned with negative comments while negotiations were underway for a stake in the company. He became very vocal when the tender process was stopped, favouring a more private individual discussion. He say the the oversupply is a myth and all production from hard rock and brine will be required going forward. Yet, he puts in so much time talking companies not connected to ganfeng and Tianqi down. The junior miners that he show support for have little to no funding.
The Scandinavian, Japanese and American investment firms are not stupid. They are investigating in companies with solid fundamentals like galaxy. Every single sell unit share is met with a buy. Someone is buying the shares.
Short sellers closed their positions from Blackrock. They have had to reopen at the bottom to hold the SP down. Why would that be, if Galaxy is as bad as many say? Its a company that is cash flow positive and large cash instead of debt. Is it possible the Galaxy chain is six months ahead of the competition? Why has china changed its policy against foreign battery companies? Is it because the battery supply chain can be built outside of china? Could be.
