I absolutely agree. It's a chemical products market with varying specifications. Totally understandable why the big Li Chemicals producers don't want to take part.
The problem many of the Australian Li producers face is the CCPs insistance that spodumene pricing be linked to a Li chemical price. Hence the references to published pricing in BOA announcements.
We are yet to learn if GXY was forced into compliance when the annual pricing was renegotiated to biannual adjustments. I would love some clarity from GXY on that but the secretive and protective way they treat their BOA terms means I'm unlikely to get an answer. If I we're to speculate, I would imagine one of the reasons they won't reveal the details is because the terms were signed prior to the 'mechanism' directive and there is pressure to not make that public knowledge.
