It is fair to say that the Yanks are sleeping at the wheel during Clinton, Bush x 2 and Obama administrations where they are happy to take the Chinese money (selling US debt), buying cheap Chinese goods, export most of their manufacturing jobs to China and running HUGE national account deficits over many years.
I think is way too late and difficult to turn around.
The "Golden Rules" is well alive and very relevant - If you got the Gold, you make the Rules
