1655 ET - UBS thinks commodity producers aren't ready for the wave of demand that is coming if the takeup of electric vehicles is as rapid as it expects. "While some of the commodities needed for an electric vehicle are not considered scarce (i.e. lithium) there is still a lack of named projects to meet the pick-up in demand," the investment bank says. For example, all known projects proposed to start by 2030 will only produce enough lithium to meet 22% of electric-vehicle demand, UBS says.
