As long as we have a substantial holder, namely State Street Corporation ,who makes its money by loaning out CXO shares to shorters, then we will have days like this.
State Street Corporation is now a substantial holder of many ASX stocks and does exactly the same with them.
State Street Corporation is like a cancer that is very hard to get rid of.
This is Wall St doing what it does best .
It’s a situation that on the surface defies logic. Given the popular belief that short sellers create unjustified losses in some stocks, why would a substantial shareholder want to supply the ammunition for attacks against their investments? The explanation is fairly straight forward: By loaning out securities for a small fee plus interest, they can generate extra income that boosts returns.
cheers to all
