The weird thing is how these decisions are being made despite most ppl either having no interest in EVs or having a preference for ICE.

Not remotely weird , most people have no particular interest in cars in general they're just a means of transport , but a lot of people are very concerned about trying to make a start towards a cleaner future for themselves , their children and grandchildren , Govts are taking notice, as they do when votes are involved, Car manufacturers are also taking notice their future customers are the next generations not petrol heads like some of us..its weird you can't grasp that...
