I understand the point you're trying to make, but, regarding #2, start-stop systems have been available for a while. My last three cars cut the engine while idling at a red light.

I do agree though regarding the overall opinion on pollution. Even if EV's end up being close to what an ICE engine's energy consumption is, I'd definitely prefer to live in a city with less pollution from engines, in particular diesel engines.
I grow up in a European capitol and woke up every morning with bad cough and had hay fever and a ton of allergies overall. I now live in New Zealand and maybe have 2 weeks of itchy nose per year at worst. I am pretty certain that moving away from dense pollution is what made the biggest difference.

I myself am a petrolhead and own a pretty sporty German car, but I cant wait to be able to afford a decent EV and see decent infrastructures to support it.
