It was basically an ultimatum, you better get your act together or become another KODAK.
Imagine if Tesla started world wide advertising campaign...they would have to build dozens new Giga-factories just to keep up with customers orders and waiting times would approach a year.
You don't seem to be very impressed with Tesla product as well...it's your choice and your loss. I can tell you from personal experience that the product is in a word PHENOMENAL in every respect.
As a very proud owner of a 2022 Model3 Performance...and having just returned from a 4500km trip to the fabulous Arlie Beach, I can honestly say the car is absolute miracle of technology. Everything just works like a dream and the performance is second to none.
Driving it is just pure pleasure and a lots of fun thrown in to top it off...especially when overtaking "slower" traffic in a blink of an eye.
Total charging cost for the trip $267.00...go ahead and work out cost per kilometer and than try to do it in your average FORD, Toyota or VW...no brainer in my book!
Would not buy another ICE vehicle ever!...pure liability period!
TBO I believe Tesla will go from strength to strength and easily produce at least 2 million vehicles this calendar year, and most likely 2.5 million in 2024.
As for the other automakers...I wish them lots of luck catching up with TESLA because they will need every bit of luck they can get.
IMO most will fail miserably, and some may even be out of business all together or swallowed up by the bigger players still surviving.
The writing has been on the wall sine Nevada Giga factory was commissioned.
But many have ignored or just did not wand to see it.
it is a long marathon and many will not see the finish line.
And that's how the cookie crumbles.
All in my opinion of course.

Thanks for your reply..Some fair points..I am quite happy with my 2002 Pajero that K RUDD, converted to LPG for me for free in 2008....You know under the let's go for zero emissions with Oz Lpg and save the environment...Coming up to 15 yrs of zero emissions motoring...Let's chat about your Tesla Model 3 from a high carbon footprint in 15 years time. Oooh that's right it will be in a scrap yard and Tesla will need to make you a new one and another huge carbon footprint from the Shanghai factory. Which Elon has trouble calculating the carbon footprint of....funny for a genius not to have basic maths...I guess he has you on his consumer addiction cycle.Like you need a new Apple iPhone every 3 yrs.. I see Elon with new eyes over the last 12 months and charlatan is the observation now...but hey I am only here to make a buck and little interest in reinventing the wheel or saving the world( whilst becoming a multi billionaire)....let's chat again when Tesla produces a car that is made with zero emissions, recharged with zero emissions and lasts twenty years. But hey there would be little money in that..
