PM's can usually learn their skills of their trade within about 10-12yrs, after that it is sometimes multiples of those same skills put into practice year in year out. Running an ASX Listed company successfully requires innate skills in dealing with people, brokers, the media and all round promotional capabilities as well industry knowledge on entry into the CEO role. Communication Fundamental and essential when corporate games are afoot!
The technical staff together with contractors are the doers at the "coal face" - the CEO is the (respected) figurehead at the frontend with drive and vigor doing the aforesaid.
