Why shorting? I say profit taking after yesterday and it’s a flat day. If anything, I suspect shorts are closing positions into the profit taking. Anyone expecting shorts to get burned will be disappointed. They know how to close out without spiking the SP. Only time they really get caught out is with an unexpected TO offer but even then they have probably have made enough trades on the way down to cover losses from that (TO) happening which BTW does not happen as often as one might think.
