The shorts that really have an effect on SP, rarely get burned. It is their sole job to know how their chosen company is progressing. When they decide to start closing, they do this in a fashion that does not spike SP. So much money to be made on the short side, if you thought that they didn’t have insiders, you would be wrong!! There are a number of books available that really should be read if you decide to invest in heavily shorted stocks
