@gary123. its never a stupid question if you gain understanding, regardless what anyone thinks. The spodumene goes into a machine and is cooked at very high temperatures. The ideal size lets say 3mm give the best result. Anything larger requires more time/heat (extra cost). Anything smaller is also extra cost. Dust size or similar is extracted or blown out of the machine as waste. Each deposit has a different chemical make-up. The customer must adjust their machines to each deposit. This is an extra cost to them. The coverters cannot be adjust their machines to different customer spodumene sizes all the time. So, any thing under the specified is called fines, a lower valued product or waste. Also Lower lithium content spodumene (pebbles) means the customer gets less chemical to volume they paid for. 95% of investors don't know this.
