A$1,889 * 0.662 as an exchange rate = US$1,250.5/t.
The most likely reason for them putting Core's costs at US$1,250/t is they do not have a good knowledge of Core's cost structure and have simply taken the headline reported A$1,889/t figure and multiplied it by the then current AUD to USD exchange rate and quoted that as Core's cost base. They could have used A$904/t as Core's quoted unit cost for the product produced that quarter and converted that to US$598/t but that wouldn't be a particularly effective click bate to get more readers.
In using A$1,889/t (with a USD conversion), they haven't understood that the figure of A$1,889/t is inflated by basically doing two quarters of mining in the one quarter with mining being the largest cost. This enabling a large buildup of ROM but as it was ROM not Concentrate that was being produced it costs accumulated but not the concentrate volumes going into the denominator.
