From what I've read CXO and SYA have been removed from the MSCI small cap index as part of the quarterly rebalancing.
Shorts required to hand shares back to the funds, meaning buying on market to cover short positions.
Still waiting for the link to the MSCI source, but the info stacks up on face value.
