    I hope you realised the sarcasm in gklaw's reply. There's a strong chance solid state batteries will use more lithium than the current battery technologies.

    The major component of Lithium-ion batteries is Graphite/silicon and depending on the chemistry, Nickel. The large demand for Lithium is from lots of batteries, not lithium being the major component of those batteries.

    As per the picture below, some solid-state batteries also have an anode made of lithium metal so you are potentially getting lithium demand from both the anode and cathode. Assuming no wastage it takes 5.323 ton's of LCE to get one ton of pure lithium metal. The use of pure lithium metal in the anode has the potential to create substantial incremental lithium demand on the system.

    Like demand forecasts for Nickel and Cobalt, it will however depend on the chemistries that become commercial.
