The price point that Chinese companies are now achieving for EV's is impressive. At that sort of price point the transition to EV's can happen quite rapidly because consumers can pay a similar or lower price for an EV to the ICE alternatives they may also be considering.

Another to add to that list is Xpeng is the Mona M03. This vehicle was launched on August 27 and its entry model comes with a 515km range for the equivalent of USD17k. The RMB 156k model has self drive functionality. Xpeng have now confirmed 30,000 orders in just the first 24 hours with deliveries starting in September. This isn't a high performance vehicle that will break records in acceleration from 0 to 100kmph or 200kmph but its a vehicle that knows its target market and the price point needed for that market. Its a sharp price for a new family size car. The tesla model 3 is clearly an inspiration in both the design and production methods for this vehicle but its come in well under the price of the Tesla model3. If the Mona M03 starts to be offered into international markets in the US$20-$30k equivalent price range, it could sell a lot. Vehicles like this could assist to increase EV uptake in multiple markets around the world however US and European market protection may limit the uptake in those markets.
