Oh yeah, would say been digging for 2-3 or 4 (??) months.Yesterdays picture of excavator may mean at some depth now. Generally (not always) deeper the digging the harder the soil is. Maybe reaching the limit of scrapers and transitioning over to excavator and haul truck. Much higher breakout force on excavator bucket (less teeth to transfer machine effort or force to the ground).
The next transition phase is the fun bit, move over excavator, bring in drillers, fill hole with ANFO (Ammonium Nitrate and Fuel Oil), stick of dynamite and KABOOM!! baby, bring back in excavator.
Don't forget this is hard rock spodueme we are mining.
