Well, diesel in FNQ at the moment is around $1.60 per litre. This puts the cost of refuelling a 4wd at over $120. Oil fuels are getting more expensive, renewables are getting less expensive. As far as coal goes, it is sad but it looks like the greenies (having just stopped a new mine in NSW) are having wins, and I would be surprised to see any more new coal mines get up in Australia. No investment will mean the death knell of coal, as the monopolies will keep increasing prices as demand rises, and it will rise, from China and India. Cost of coal made energy will be it's downfall ... users will look elsewhere ... Solar energy is cheap and getting cheaper ... our problem is batteries, but there are billions of dollars being spent currently to improve size, safety and storage capacity ... I could go on and on, but you get the point ... these are my opinions, if you don't agree with 'em, feel free to get shares in oil or coal producers ...
