Actually, I'm pretty sure that spodumene does mean lithium. Spodumene is LiAlSi₂O₆. If it doesn't contain lithium it isn't spodumene.
I believe that one of the samples awaiting assay results has undergone a preliminary test and found to ONLY contain quartz and spodumene. A visual inspection indicates that it looks to be predominantly spodumene. I would have thought that should be enough evidence to predict that it should be a good grade.
