Keep in mind, as @calmbeforestorm mentioned, ~8% Li2O is the pure stoichiometric chemical comp of spodumene, but in practice it caps out at about 6-7%. This is typically just because of minor impurities/ion replacement in the crystal structure with other metals. Usually alkali, more deleterious impurities are ferric
