AER has not yet signed off on the Brookfields deal. in fact after the $17 million AUD fine imposed by Federal Court last year, there was expected to be some follow up.
Where has that occurred?
AER needs to give the all clear and that has not happened.
Federal Court judgement in AER v Origin Energy Electricity et Ors could be a considerable sticking point for the ACCC.
That judgement gives ACCC and FIRB grounds to block the deal.
How could the information barriers a.ka. “Chinese walls” be sufficient when Origin has acted like that?
Albo might be under pressure to scuttle the deal with all this price gouging and energy crisis talk going on.
