great find.........................and some moreYes, Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (CIP) is working on a significant battery project in South Australia! They are collaborating with Canadian Solar to build the Summerfield Battery Energy Storage System. This project is located in the Murraylands region, about 60 kilometers east of Adelaide.
The Summerfield Battery will have a capacity of 240 MW and 480 MWh, providing much-needed storage and grid stability. It will store excess energy during low demand periods and deliver power back to the grid when needed. This project is part of CIP's broader plan to invest over $100 billion in renewable energy projects across Australia, including offshore and onshore wind, renewable hydrogen, pumped hydro, and battery storage.
The project is expected to reach a final investment decision next year, with construction starting by 2025. It's an exciting development for South Australia's renewable energy infrastructure!
