They've previously said they will be seeking partnerships. Doesn't meant they'll find any, especially given their track record.
Hell, Si kept pushing the finalised partnership with Novartis pretty much up until the day they announced the had withdrawn - again very unexpected to everyone here.
I find it hard to believe Si was blindsided by that news on the day - yet he announced his confidence to the market whenever he was able.
