Watched Pain Hustlers on N-flix on the weekend. It’s about Insys Therapeutics. It was treatment of a Fentanyl spray for pain from cancer. FDA approved 2012.
Had a trial of 200 people…. Participants chosen for their opioid tolerance and the best part was that it was true that only 1% became addicted to the product after 2 year trial. What company failed to mention was that 1% was arrived at based on the number alive at the end of the trial. A large percent (I think 80+%) had already died from the cancer.
The company was prosecuted for giving kickbacks to doctors
Great example of the FDA really looking after the public!
