My rant was just that, but as you have taken the time, I too will respond.

The end result re Novartis was them pulling the deal. As far as MSB was concerned, it wasn't a case of nothing lost nothing gained. MSB came away with alot less than nothing.
Not only did they let Novartis under the hood, the deal scared reputation big time.

The ‘why’ is what bothers me ( hindsight is of course 100% )
Business wise when going into that situation, with MSB holding all the cards, one has to ask , why risk what they did, at such a high point street wise, to come away with less than nothing.
Maybe it was a complete roll of the dice, contextually ( covid). But to not reach a endgame to mot gain anything, was either a poor planned business move or a deal driven by ? .

Which is where my rambling thought of when ego/ greed/ arrogance comes in . I believe that Novartis was interested ( inflammation space ARDS) even just to bury the competition.However, negotiations were left at the table due to not reaching agreeing to terms.
Good management gets the deals done.

Reading back, I think your logic makes more business sense. I also am backing SI and team to get over the line.
The cells work SI knows it… just gotto get the deal done
