What if you used directional drilling to drill at an angle to the strata so that the thickness of intersections with the permeable zones is higher - possibly even drilling horizontally along one of the strata. This is the sort of technique oilers are using to exploit previously unproductive fields like the Bakken. Any prospect of this kind of technique being applied to geothermal/rigs capable of this?
