    My gf is a teacher (yes I hate she's still on holidays), she's in the private system now but the public system is pretty poorly paying in Melbourne, something like $50-$60k for teachers with 10+ years experience. I'm not saying they should be paid heaps because there's some great positives to the job but don't think that's where we should cut back.

    Lets stop subsidising speculation through negative gearing tax breaks, hmmm, not even going to start on that, no point, too many with vested interests for that to change anytime in the next 20 years.

    On the plus side we have a nicely deflating property market at the moment so lets enjoy it and hope it keeps going to a nice reasonable 15% or so correction, providing a good platform for more stable price rises going forward.
