Watched a fully loaded barge drift into a reef in front of my house this morning. Amazing that it made it over the main reef with a 6m swell running and dodging a heap of small reefs to make it to within a kilometer of the beach.
Sucked in I say as these barges going up north have cost the family business over 30k in the last year and the bloke next door to me has lost over 40k in gear. Would hate to think how much other fishermen have lost!
They are suppose to travel well off the coast for saftey reasons but time is money and the Gov. doesn't care. Should be on the news tonight as the choppers have been over head a few times.
not sure what Co. runs the barges but their premiums will be going up..Z+22.13
