I think numis is right. Xstrata got so much profits they dont know what to do with it. May as well spend it on a TO or two.
XSTRATA, LONMIN
Swiss mining group Xstrata is planning an unsolicited takeover bid for platinum producer Lonmin, in a deal likely worth about $9 billion, the Financial Times reported today.
Xstrata is also due to announce its H1 results.
(That's got the market wondering about BHP's profits.)
