The new girlfriend of former NSW deputy premier John Barilaro was working for the public service body during the selection process that appointed him to the plum trade ambassador role in New York.
Jennifer Lugsdin was given a senior media advisory role at Investment NSW while the agency was seeking a candidate for the New York job, which eventually went to Mr Barilaro.
Ms Lugsdin was with the former Nationals MP when the pair had an unseemly scuffle with news cameramen on Saturday night in Sydney's northern beach suburb of Manly.
She spent a year as Mr Barilaro's media advisor when he was NSW deputy premier but left that job in August of 2021 before immediately being offered a senior media advisor role at NSW Investment, which she did for five months.
During that period it was revealed that she and Mr Barilaro were romantically involved after the pair had left their respective marriages.
