Nothing ever makes sense. Best to let people live their lives.
But that's what the religionists don't do though. They don't let their kids live their own lives and make up their own minds. Instead they indoctrinate them. Then the outcome is we get hopelessly conflicted and hypocritical people like Barnaby Joyce out there telling people how to live their lives, while he does the opposite in his own life.
