Hi All,
I haven't posted much lately. I've also been distracted by various things. But glad I finally have time to add to this thread: my quick notes on the quarterly update by Barrick from August 10th. There are often clues in these notes that are relevant to Chesser (earlier posts in this thread show that). Here is the one relevant slide from the powerpoint:
On the image above, I added the big blue arrow to point to the little yellow dot. I did NOT add the little yellow dot. This was included by Barrick in this powerpoint and even the one that was posted by @HarryKane earlier in thread. I can't remember if I ever mentioned it, but it definitely stood out to me in this powerpoint. It is important because it is Chesser's Diamba Sud discovery, and the ONLY new discovery in the region that Barrick decided to include in the powerpoints (with its own color, but without a name). It is one piece of evidence that Barrick continues to follow the Diamba Sud discovery closely.
As new commentary from the Barrick MD&A, see these screenshots from the Bambadji section on pages 55 and 56 (direct link to the full MD&A here https://barrick.q4cdn.com/788666289/files/quarterly-report/2020/Barrick-Q2-2020-Report.pdf ):
Not all that much reported, and no spectacular holes. However, progress is being made and there are a few good holes reported above. It seems that the wet season cut short some potentially interesting holes. A lot of work is being done around Gefa and will continue (which is in the southern part of Bambadji). The most intriguing thing to me is the mention of drilling "in the western part of the permit, mostly underlain by the Faleme volcanics."
Barrick purposefully makes it difficult to match up specific areas of drilling with the non-detailed map in the powerpoint. However, when I saw the word "Faleme", I thought of this image from page 6 of the last Chesser powerpoint ( https://www.investi.com.au/api/announcements/chz/9d26f636-b5f.pdf ):
I add the big blue arrow and question mark pointing to "Faleme Skarn". I do not know if Barrick is referring to this area, or an adjacent area. But I would guess Barrick has started to drill somewhere in this area in the last quarter, which is very interesting since it is closer to Diamba Sud.
But one important thing to keep in mind: ANYWHERE Barrick makes an economic discovery at Bamdadji would be within trucking distance of Diamba Sud, and vice versa. The most interesting development is easily Chesser's new discovery at Diamba Sud. The discovery at Area D is absolutely spectacular, and far better than anything Barrick has reported. But who knows, maybe Barrick will eventually make a discovery that can rival Area D. Whatever happens, it is very exciting that a tiny junior and an enormous major are making true greenfields discoveries in an emerging jurisdiction.
Chesser does not need Barrick. But Barrick's continued presence and activity will bring further attention to the region. I look forward to progress from both companies. I continue to be a large and enthusiastic shareholder of Chesser.
Cheers,
MBG
