Barrick Gold Corporation (NYSE: ABX)(TSX: ABX) ("Barrick" or "the Company") announced today that the Zambian Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (the "CCPC") has disclosed that it has issued a conditional authorization for Barrick's proposed acquisition of all of the issued and outstanding common shares (the "Equinox Shares") of Equinox Minerals Limited (TSX: EQN) (ASX: EQN) ("Equinox"). Barrick appreciates the timeliness of the CCPC approval process to date and notes that discussions with the CCPC relating to modifying the terms of its conditional authorization are ongoing.


Share price was down in Canada right at the end of the day (last hour, on reasonable volume, not high or low), I would think people trading out before the prospective close 1 June. Offer price $8.15, closing price in Canada $7.60

I would expect an extension in offer, it is a pity, but Barrick doesn't seem to be required to give updates on its current shareholding... has anyone else seen this info?
