Being in construction I have been interested in how the negotiations were going at Barrow Island. The workers have knocked back 4 different proposals for a family friendly roster and voted overwhelmingly in favour of protected action tomorrow (94%). So Union comes to them today saying they have secured a deal with Chevron and that the workers should all agree to it....94% against a 23&9 roster (they have been hell bent on a 20&10) yet Union says they have secured a 23&10 roster and that is the best they can do?? I thought the members were the Union and organisers were their mouthpiece? What sort of backdoor dealings were done here?? They went on a union drive for 2 years recruiting members then turn away when they get close to full membership?
Sounds a lot like Curtis Island where they sold the workers out to line their own pockets. Might be a lot more info for the TURC to uncover with these projects and I hope they all come undone.
