I came across this article over at CFU looking at some of the issues Germany faces with it's relatively high percentage of power sourced from wind and solar.

    http://www.bloomberg.com/news/2011-09-29/utilities-giving-away-power-as-wind-sun-flood-european-grid.html

The article raises all sorts of issues relevant to PTR. I view it very positively overall because it highlights some of the shortcomings of wind in particular and intermittent energy sources generally.

I thought it was interesting that a CFU poster wrote 'I also think it makes investment in large scale centralised power plants less attractive longer term.'

I would disagree, when it comes to large scale, centralised power plants that are emissions free such as geothermal. We would benefit from the same 'priority status' as wind and solar so we would always have buyers for our power, even on the windiest days, you would think.

I would paraphrase the CFU poster and write 'I believe that it makes investment in large scale baseload clean energy more attractive longer term.'

'Spain aims to get 20.8 percent of its total energy from marine energy, geothermal and offshore wind projects, as well as hydropower, by 2020.' This bodes well for PTR's Spanish projects.

In other thoughts, I was pleased to learn from brr that directors, management and staff have taken a 10% haircut on their pays to get through 'tough times.'

The flow test should be well underway now. Lets hope it flows better than Snoop Dogg and we can all celebrate with a 'Gin & Juice' :-)
