Mad indeed, that is being rude, you miss the point not surprisingly, the $10,000 refers to the cost of reactive power. Which it would seem is extremely costly upwards of $10,000 KWh.
NOTE: That was not a suggestion of the cost of normal power. Your point is irrelevant to the discussion. It is therefore stupid to suggest or infer that that was my point. The quote was from the paper which does suggest people do not turn off despite the cost.
